spring 2026 exercise log

this spring, i have two big goals:
  1. train for my first ever run (5k) on 10 may
  2. train for my first ever ballet recital on 14 june
i don't have any specific metrics for these goals, i just want to be able to show up to the event knowing that i've worked hard and am ready to give it my best. here's a log to help me stay accountable to myself!

23.04
morning run: 3.4km, 8:32/km

24.04
morning yoga: 25min, gentle (i use the downdog app for my yoga routines)
evening barre class: 60min, good full-body workout, was sore all over the next morning

25.04
morning yoga: 25min, gentle with flexibility boost
evening punk show: lbr this was a cardio workout. i also walked 30-40mins both ways. i felt dead the next day.

26.04
evening ballet class: 90min, there were only 5 of us so we got a lot of individual attention which made for a pretty intense class

27.04
morning yoga: 25min, gentle with flexibility boost
afternoon stretching/ballet: i just felt like i needed to move my body so i did some random exercises in my room for maybe half an hour. found out i have really poor ankle dorsiflexion so that's why my pliés are still so shallow :(

29.03
morning run: 2.45 km, 8:39/km. i really did not want to go for a run this morning but i had made a promise to myself and i kept it.

31.03
evening barre class: 60min, felt good

02.04
evening ballet class: 90min, nice! practiced our recital choreography a lot and i think i have the first section memorised

03.04
morning run: 3.5km, 8:11/km. first actual good run of the season!! think i'll be able to go up to 4km next week...

04.04
hiking day! went to the calanque de sugiton, dipped my feet in the freezing cold water, almost had heat stroke on my way back. i'm not sure how much distance we walked but according to my friend's phone we did over 16,000 steps! many of them climbing treacherous rocks

09.04
evening ballet class: ive been depressed etc and barely moving the past few days and i definitely felt it lol. wasn't too intense of a class luckily and also it made me feel a bit better.

10.04
woke up feeling vaguely motivated to do some exercise. couldn't go for a run bc flatmate a was sleeping and flatmate b went out and i am not doing well with opening our door these days so instead i did some ballet/barre exercises in my room. it felt pretty good.

13.04
was kind of planning to go for a run this morning but the weather was so crap i just did 20 mins of yoga instead. better than nothing atp

14.04
morning yoga: 20 min, gentle with flexibility boost. getting real stressed about that run i haven't been training for

15.04
morning run: 4km, 7:52/km. i did it! first 4km of the year! and somehow my pace was my best yet as well!

16.04
afternoon ballet: no class this week so i did a lil home workout

18.04
morning run: i had a really good run today so of course my gps got messed up and i couldn't see my actual mileage but i'm sure i ran at least 5 km!!! i did it!!! and i did the first 2 km non-stop!! im feeling ready for this 5k in may guys

24.04
morning run: 3.43 km, 9:23/km. have nooot been feeling motivated to exercise lately and kind of just walked more than half of my "run" this morning but hey at least i dragged myself out there

27.04
morning yoga: 20 min, gentle with flexibility boost. did this while the upstairs neighbours were drilling into my ceiling. buddhist monks got nothin on me

28.04
ditto.

29.04
morning run: 3.71 km, 8:13/km. i felt like i was going to have a really good run but then i got hungry like halfway through

30.04
evening ballet class: finally we are back from vacances! we got our costumes for the end-of-year performance and i remembered what gender dysphoria feels like. we're just practising our choreography now which is pretty fun.

03.05
morning run: 5.02 km, 8:08/km. really did not feel good at the start of this run but i'm glad i pushed myself to keep going! just one more week until my first official run!

05.05
dragged myself to barre class in the evening bc i was feeling really out of shape less than a week before the run oops

07.05
evening ballet class

09.05
did some emergency yoga and walked a bunch. maybe a bit too much. my right calf hurt a bit the next morning

10.05
the big run! this was very exciting
the run was La Marseillaise des Femmes, an annual 5.4-km women's run in marseille. the vibe was good, and i loved commuting to the village in the morning and seeing only other women in exercise clothes outside...this is what the city should feel like always fr
i can't say the run felt Easy but it was nice to be with friends and our pace ended up being pretty similar. we were a group of 4. me and kübra were more into sprinting and walking, katy and sam were more into the continuous slow run. i got competitive towards the end and zoomed off for a while but i got tired and they caught up lol. we all finished within 2 minutes of each other in the end.
my official time was 42:39, which i'm pretty pleased with :) def a bit faster than any of my previous 5k runs
anyway, now that the run is done i'm gonna try to focus on ballet bc i am getting quite scared thinking about our ballet recital aahh (i am writing this exactly 1 month before the performance)

11.05
some morning yoga to stretch out my poor calves

12.05
evening barre class

return to island / back to cloud
